Obama gives back-to-school speech
Today President Obama gave a ”back-to-school speech”. For some Conservatives it has been seen to be quite controversial. But personally, I feel that his message is basically saying that children need to use their common sense and stay in school. It was streamed across the internet into classrooms all over America. Interestingly, it was not compulsary and pupils had to choose to skip a class in order to watch it. Which seems very contradictory to his message of ”[There] is no excuse…for cutting class”. On Twitter it seems as if many American teenagers opted to watch it – that does not surprise me at all.
Note: I am currently on a DSL connection in Costa Rica and have not been able to watch the video. For this reason, I do not know if the prepared remarks transcript matches the actual speech.
