What is Social Media?

Social Media describes a world where we use technology to share ideas, opinions and interact socially.

Tools in this new world include Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Youtube, forums, instant messaging, blogs and consumer review sites.

Is Social Media Important? How many people use it?

More here. And here too.

I already have a marketing web site. Do I need to replace it?

We’re all about creating a buzz about your company or product on the web, where your customers hang out every day. We’re not being rude here, but it’s probably not on your web site. We will share some ideas on how to best take advantage of the people we’re driving your way by adding new pages or low-cost features to your site. In addition, recent research about Google’s indexing methodology suggests our work can enhance your web site search engine rankings.

Can I do this social media thing myself?

Yes: our workshops are designed to provide you and your team with the knowledge and skills required to use social media successfully. There are practical outcomes: for example after our blogging workshop you will have a real, live blog!

Em, What is Web 2.0?

Web 1.0 was the first phase of web sites. Most web sites remain 1.0, and “push” information to the consumer. They remain useful. However in web 2.0 the customer has taken control. They’re making their own videos, creating web pages that discuss your business, commenting about your sector on the Internet, looking for help from their peers rather than traditional channels like review magazines or travel agencies. It includes user generated content and information flows directly from customer to customer rather than via a business or the media.
